Experimenting with Slideshow
Lightroom enables you to create a slideshow of a set of photographs and export the file as a PDF or video so it can be published to the web.
Lightroom has a dedicated Slideshow module, where you can select preset templates and add text to your slideshow. You can use your creativity to customize your slideshow. For example, you can add a Title slide to introduce the slideshow and/or an Ending slide with a punchline or credits. Photographs can be arranged to narrate a story and you can also play the slideshow against a music score to increase its power or adding voice-over to describe the image.
When you are done, you can preview the entire slideshow and if satisfied then export the slideshow and create a video which can be published on YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, etc.
This is an excellent tutorial on how to to create, render and publish a slideshow with music by sequencing your images to tell the perfect story.
This is an example of a slideshow I quickly compiled using most features available in Slideshow module which I uploaded to YouTube.
Dodge and Burn with the Adjustment Brush
In Lightroom 4, adjustment brushes can be used to dodge and burn.
Dodging and burning are terms used to describe the selective adjustment of exposure tones in a photograph. It is a commonly used technique to emphasize certain areas of the photograph over others to help guide the viewer's eye. Dodging is the brightening of a section of the image and burning is the darkening.
This video tutorial demonstrates: (a) how to use the the masking feature of Lightroom 4's adjustment brush to lighten, darken, sharpen, or increase sharpness to one specific area of an image and (b) how to use the adjustment brush to dodge and burn parts of the image similar to method used in a darkroom.
